Why I Do This Work

I'm probably not the person you'd expect to be talking about breathing.
I grew up in a sport and barbecue kind of household, about as traditional as it gets.
Then came twenty years in corporate environments.
Back-to-back meetings.
Emails that didn't stop just because the day was supposed to be over.
Deadlines stacked on deadlines.
The quiet politics that come with any workplace.
Who said what.
Who you needed to manage.
What you couldn't say out loud.
From the outside, everything looked completely normal.
Because it was normal.
That's just what corporate life looks like for most people.
I didn't think there was anything wrong with any of it.
It was just how work worked.
I didn't clock how much of my day was spent slightly braced, slightly on alert, until long after it had become the default.
The moment everything stopped
The real turning point came from something I never saw coming, toxic mould in a home I was renting.
For three years I had no answer.
Just a growing list of unexplained symptoms and endless trips to the doctor.
When I finally found the source, I walked away from almost everything I owned and started again with one bag of clothes.
For the first time, I started paying attention to things I'd never questioned before.
My environment.
My health.
And how much of that constant, low-grade "on" feeling from years of corporate life I'd simply accepted as normal, without ever realising it wasn't.
Finding breath along the way
I spent years searching for answers after that.
Breathing wasn't the whole answer, but it became one of the most important parts of rebuilding.
It started with simple breathing practices.
They helped in the moment, but I wanted something that created lasting change.
That's when I discovered the difference between using the breath as a technique and changing the way I breathed every day.
Functional Breathing helped me improve the way I breathed, slept, thought and responded to life.
Conscious Connected Breathing gave me the opportunity to release stress, tension and past experiences that my body had been holding onto for years.
Together, they changed far more than my breathing.
They changed how I experienced life.
That's what led me to train as a Certified Oxygen Advantage® Functional Breathing Instructor, and separately as a Conscious Connected Breathing Facilitator.
Not because I set out to build a business around breathing.
Because these were the approaches that created lasting change when almost nothing else had.
Why this matters for how I work with people
I'm not sharing this from a textbook or a certificate alone.
I lived through the things I now help people with.
The deadlines and workplace politics that quietly wear you down.
The health challenges nobody could explain.
The loneliness that can come when you know something isn't right, but don't yet have answers.
The slow process of rebuilding from somewhere much further back than simply feeling "a bit stressed."
That's why I don't lead with credentials or present myself as someone you need to defer to.
I'd rather be a guide who's actually walked the path than a guru talking about it from a stage.
No beads.
No robes.
No acting like I've got all the answers.
Just what genuinely helped, offered plainly to anyone who needs it.
Where this is headed
Today I work with people experiencing stress, poor sleep, low energy, brain fog, anxiety, or simply the feeling that they're no longer quite themselves.
For some, that starts with Functional Breathing, improving the way they breathe every day to support better sleep, energy, focus and resilience.
For others, it's through Conscious Connected Breathing, creating space to release stress, tension and past experiences the body may still be holding onto.
Sometimes it's a combination of both.
Having spent twenty years navigating deadlines, meetings, and workplace politics myself, I understand the toll that always-on culture can take.
Because I lived inside it long before I found a way to truly settle.
If any part of this sounds familiar, you don't need a dramatic story of your own to begin.
Sometimes the smallest change can have the biggest impact.
Whether that's learning to breathe differently every day, or giving your body the space to release what it's been holding onto.
It did for me.
I'd love to share what I've learned with you.
